Every time before we smash, our operators inspect dumpsters to look at the quality of the dumpster and to look at the contents of the dumpster. If waste is not properly disposed of, such as lithium batteries and other important E-waste properly disposed of using IT Asset Management, then we’re not able to provide the benefit to our customers to reduce the hauls and to do the smash in a safe and effective manner.

One of the biggest liabilities is batteries. So what we make sure to do is to put them in the proper containers, to tape up the interfaces on them so that they don’t explode during transport, as well as to identify, are the batteries swollen and possibly volatile? So it’s a big risk. And certainly, if customers or generators of waste are not in the know of how to handle e-waste, we got to make sure that we’re not throwing E-waste, especially lithium-ion batteries, into your general waste containers, dumpsters, or otherwise.
