I think a lot of people in our space understand that the time from retirement to disposal, IT assets are ripe for loss or theft because the assets are offline, they’re sitting in a cage, they’re waiting for approval for disposal, they’re waiting for the disposal vendor to ultimately show up and package it and remove it. If that’s not in a secure location, monitor, badge in, badge out, sign out, whatever physical security that you can put around that. But I think one thing that organizations don’t think about enough is during that time, how ripe these assets are for embezzlement. So internal employees who know that there’s not good asset tracking being done in the organization, maybe they’re a satellite office, maybe they’re assets that… It’s just known that they’re not being tracked well. And your employees can be using unauthorized agents to purchase that asset and put the cash directly in their pocket.
