ITAMG Service Scope

ITAMG Decommissioning Services for QTS Customers

ITAMG helps QTS customers retire customer-owned servers, storage and networking equipment at US facilities, with removal, data treatment, secure transport and asset reporting agreed in the project scope.

List the servers, storage, networking equipment and any customer-owned rack components involved. Identify leased equipment, operator-owned infrastructure and hardware that will remain live. Your IT owners approve equipment release after addressing application, backup and network dependencies.

ITAMG can reconcile the inventory, de-rack and pack released hardware, arrange erasure or physical destruction, and complete the agreed resale or recycling work. Define the asset report and certificates your team needs before collection. Your authorized customer contact arranges the applicable QTS requests and access permissions.

Work Package

Prepare the Equipment-Removal Work Package for QTS Review

Map the approved equipment list to the work submission, access owner and removal request so the facility can review one consistent project.

QTS’s published data center rules call for advance review of work descriptions and supporting documents. Its QTS Mobile listing also identifies separate equipment-removal, shipment and Remote Hands request functions. Use these as a preparation map, then confirm the actual facility process with the customer’s account team.

  1. Work description and equipment list

Prepare the proposed method, statement of work and any requested supporting documents. Identify the exact customer area, hardware and retained assets.

  2. Customer access-roster owner

QTS assigns access authority to designated roster managers. Identify that customer contact and prepare the crew details for the appropriate approval.

  3. Equipment-removal request

Identify the approved asset batch and the customer request owner. Record the applicable request reference and confirm its status before removal.

  4. Outbound shipment arrangements

Keep the transport booking and any site shipment request associated with the same batch. Confirm timing and collection details directly with the facility.

  5. Evidence permissions

QTS requires approval of a Photography Application before customer photography. Resolve any requested images with Security and agree the permitted evidence before work.

Access and Evidence

QTS Equipment Collection, Receiving and Secure Transport

Confirm the QTS receiving arrangements and identify the customer, equipment list and accepting party for the collection.

QTS’s rules route equipment entering or leaving the facility through Receiving and require a Security pass for warehouse deposit or retrieval. Confirm the applicable receiving arrangements and permitted movement route with the actual site; those published controls do not establish your pickup appointment.

For the ITAMG handoff, record the asset batch, releasing party, accepting party and shipment reference. ITAMG’s transport capabilities include GPS-tracked, insured vehicles. QTS requires approval for photography under its facility rules; agree permitted inventory and custody evidence before the crew arrives.

QTS also offers Remote Hands support. Identify any assistance being ordered and keep its completion record alongside the independently scoped collection and disposition records.

  1. Confirm the approved movement

Verify the removal and shipment arrangements, customer contact and collection point before dispatch.

  2. Reconcile the physical batch

Compare the equipment with the approved list and escalate missing, additional or unclear items.

  3. Complete the custody record

Connect the released assets with the accepting party and retain any approved change for final reporting.

Data and Closeout

QTS Customer Decommissioning Costs, Data Treatment and Records

An ITAMG decommissioning quote for QTS customer equipment reflects the on-site work, media treatment, transport, reporting requirements and potential hardware recovery value.

ITAMG can scope erasure or physical destruction on-site or at an ITAMG facility. Identify the media types, quantities, required method and treatment location, subject to the actual site arrangements. Separate equipment retained for reuse from hardware assigned to resale assessment or recycling.

For a proposal, provide the inventory, physical tasks, preferred work window and known site requirements. Identify operator or other contractor work already arranged. Agree how collected equipment, data-treatment evidence, recovery or recycling outcomes and exceptions will be reconciled.

ITAMG holds R2v3 and NAID AAA certification and provides the agreed serialized destruction or recycling certificates. Reconcile those records with the collected inventory and final asset report. The national decommissioning service overview explains the wider retirement process.

QTS Customer Decommissioning Costs, Data Treatment and Records
Completion item Responsibility to confirm
Asset disposition ITAMG supplies the records agreed for its equipment scope; the customer reviews reconciliation and exceptions.
Operator work and space acceptance The account holder obtains the required QTS confirmations for any applicable support, services or vacated space.
Financial closeout The parties reconcile the independent service charges and any recovery settlement according to the proposal.

Data Center Directory

QTS Data Centers and Facility Directory

The QTS directory groups facility listings by operator. This ITAMG service resource addresses customer-owned equipment at US facilities; verify the country, current facility and customer deployment in your account records before preparing the work scope.

Browse QTS data center directory.

Use the listings for facility identification. Your customer agreement and current facility instructions establish access, work approvals and collection requirements; a directory entry does not grant permission to remove equipment.

For local equipment-removal planning, use ITAMG’s resources for Chicago decommissioning, Atlanta decommissioning, New Jersey decommissioning, and Ashburn / Northern Virginia decommissioning. Confirm the actual municipality and facility before arranging the work; metro coverage can include nearby cities.

Service Questions

QTS Data Center Decommissioning Questions

What approvals are needed before ITAMG removes equipment from QTS?

Your team authorizes the asset release and arranges the applicable QTS requests for the crew and work. Confirm the approved tasks, access window and collection arrangements with the facility before ITAMG begins the physical removal.

Should photographs be included in the decommissioning report?

Only if they are required and permitted for the project. Resolve photography permissions before promising them, and agree the inventory, custody and treatment records needed for acceptance.

Can the work package be prepared before the inventory is perfect?

The first discussion can identify gaps, but the approved physical work needs sufficiently clear asset and ownership boundaries. Include any required inventory reconciliation in the scope and name who can approve exceptions.

Can we use the same QTS work package at every facility?

Reuse a planning format if helpful, but verify each facility’s current requirements and the actual customer agreement. Site identifiers, assets, crew, tasks, access and evidence permissions need project-specific confirmation.
