Data Center Decommissioning for Lumen Customers

Data center decommissioning for Lumen customers from ITAMG covers the physical retirement of approved customer-owned IT equipment at U.S. colocation deployments. ITAMG scopes hardware removal, data destruction, packing, transport and disposition reporting for the assets your organization releases.

Start with the service order: a physical colocation deployment and a network or cross-connect service can require different work. Identify the customer equipment to retire before arranging collection.

Correct service and assets

Confirm that the project includes physical customer equipment, with ownership and space identified.

Separate work approvals

Coordinate contractor access and hardware release alongside any carrier-service changes.

Clear completion records

Track collected assets and data treatment separately from network or account cancellation.

Order and Equipment

Identify Lumen Colocation Equipment for Retirement

A Lumen customer decommissioning project needs an identifiable physical deployment and customer equipment authorized for removal.

Review the product and service order before building the retirement list. Lumen’s Data Center and Facility Services schedule, marked Version March 18, 2026, describes customer equipment placed in ordered space. A network or cross-connect relationship alone does not establish that there is a customer rack of equipment to collect.

List the servers, storage, networking and customer-owned accessories to retire. Separate carrier equipment, leased assets and retained connections. ITAMG can scope removal, packing, data destruction, transport, resale and recycling for the approved inventory; your account and technical contacts confirm the associated service changes.

Access and Release

Coordinate Lumen Access and Customer Equipment Release

Lumen customer hardware removal requires project-specific confirmation of authorized contacts, contractor access and equipment-release conditions.

The public schedule addresses authorized contacts and removal of customer equipment within its ordered-service scope. Confirm the agreement incorporated into your order and the current instructions for the deployment. Do not assume a general account contact, network ticket or previously approved visit authorizes a removal crew.

Identify the physical facility operator if it differs from the party supplying a network service. Give ITAMG the approved work, customer asset list, access requirements and loading arrangements. Keep the hardware-release confirmation distinct from any request to disconnect a circuit or close a service.

  1. Confirm the physical deployment

Match the order, customer space and equipment inventory.

  2. Identify approval contacts

Name the customer and operator contacts authorized to approve the work and release.

  3. Arrange contractor access

Confirm personnel, permitted tasks, work hours, staging and loading requirements.

  4. Separate service changes

Assign carrier disconnects and account changes without treating them as equipment-release evidence.

Data and Services

Separate Lumen Service Changes From Customer Data Destruction

A carrier-service change does not sanitize customer storage media or document its physical disposition.

Confirm when workloads, management links and retained systems no longer depend on the retiring hardware. Decide which media will be erased, physically destroyed or retained before disconnecting systems needed for the approved treatment. Coordinate any required service changes with the responsible provider.

ITAMG offers onsite and facility processing, with the method, location and price specified in the quote. Onsite processing requires the necessary facility permission. Document media identifiers, the equipment handoff and the agreed response to failed erasure or inventory exceptions.

Match the applicable serialized destruction or recycling records to the collected assets. Keep operator and carrier closure confirmations alongside those records as separate evidence; neither a disconnect confirmation nor a physical collection record establishes the other outcome.

Costs and Completion

Lumen Customer Decommissioning Costs and Completion Records

ITAMG prices the equipment-retirement tasks assigned to its team, while network, facility and account obligations need separate confirmation.

Provide the hardware models and quantities, rack work, approved access hours, packing needs, loading conditions and data-treatment requirements. Identify any operator assistance already ordered and any retained connections that constrain removal. ITAMG can then define labor, transport, processing, reporting and equipment recovery terms for the actual project.

At closeout, reconcile the released assets, collection record and processing results. Track unresolved items and separately confirm the operator or carrier changes your organization requested. Do not use a hardware pickup date as an assumed billing-end date.

ITAMG’s trained, insured and background-checked technicians support its physical work, with GPS-tracked, insured vehicles among its logistics capabilities. Confirm the project’s collection route, processing location and required records during scoping.

Data Center Directory

Lumen Data Centers and Customer Deployment Directory

The ITAMG Lumen directory provides facility context that should be checked against the customer’s current order and physical deployment.

Browse the Lumen data center directory and compare the facility information with your account records. Lumen’s Network Colocation overview describes its colocation offering. Confirm the current operating entity, product and site contact, particularly when records use a former brand or identify a network service in another operator’s building.

Use the main data center directory for additional facility context and the decommissioning locations hub for other planning resources. A listing does not establish ownership of equipment, current contractual scope or an ITAMG relationship with Lumen.

Service Questions

Lumen Customer Decommissioning Questions

Do Lumen cross-connect customers need equipment decommissioning?

A cross-connect service may require a service change without a broader customer hardware retirement. Identify the actual equipment, its owner and the physical work required. ITAMG can scope approved IT equipment removal when there is hardware to retire; the responsible provider handles the applicable network-service request.

Does the public Lumen schedule govern every customer removal?

The published schedule applies within its stated ordered-service scope. Confirm the agreement and instructions applicable to your current deployment rather than assuming its provisions govern every Lumen product or facility relationship. ITAMG needs the approved equipment, access and release arrangements for its work.

Does collecting the hardware cancel Lumen network services?

Hardware collection does not, by itself, cancel a network or colocation service. Arrange the required commercial and technical changes with the responsible provider and retain its confirmation. Keep those records separate from ITAMG’s collection, data-treatment and disposition records.
