So if you’re working with an MSP, VAR, commercial mover to handle your IT disposal, there’s some things that you want to know. First, we feel it’s best to work directly with a certified IT asset disposal provider or electronics recycler. That being said, we understand many organizations have vendors and partners integrated into their IT system, and that they’ll want to use those partners instead of directly contracting a disposal provider. While this can be acceptable, there are some crucial steps that you should take in order to protect your organization, including documenting and vetting heading the vendor selection process. Transparency is key. Make sure any contractor you’re working with provides a window into all the approved vendors on their list. You also want to make sure that you have a contract with your prime contractor, and they have a contract with the downstream providers. This goes all the way from the transport companies your contractor may use down to the commodity recycler, the ultimate end-of-life part of the process. So your MSP, VAR, commercial mover They should have a detailed downstream list, and then you should be able to check that list and ensure those partners are going to meet your standards.

Now that you have that detailed downstream list of all the providers that your contractors have, you want to make sure you vet all subcontractors on your prime contracting list. You can do this by going to the Certifying Bodies and ensuring that the providers on that list are certified to a third-party standard and that those certifications are current and in good standing. You want to confirm that the subcontractors on your prime contractor list are actually the contractors they’re utilizing to service your contract. You can do this by a number of ways, contacting them directly, checking the contracts with your to ensure that the contractors on the list are the ones delivering transport, delivering end-of-life electronics recycling services.
