Our prospects and customers routinely struggle with choosing data destruction service levels because they don’t classify their data and risk. By measuring and classifying your risk of exposure, you set yourself up to make appropriate decisions for your business. For example, we’ve seen customers select NSA-level data destruction to a 2m shred size, even though this extreme measure does not line up with their level of risk to data exposure. They often choose these types of service levels without measuring the risk and the cost associated with performing this type of data destruction. Organizations that accurately understand their data risk can choose service levels like data sanitization, which is a secure and sustainable solution that also has better financial results than physical destruction. Conversely, organizations with high risk levels may want to select physical destruction, on-site destruction, or have other chain of custody protocols in place that will make sure that there is zero risk in the disposal and retirement of their media.
